I just can't figure out why people are so bent out of shape about the situation in Iraq.
Ok, so things are worse for Sunnis in Baghdad.
But things are very good for the Kurds.
Not to mention the Shiites (though whether that's good for us is an open question.)
Even ignoring the poetic justice angle of Sunnis reaping what they sowed for many decades -- aren't America-haters always justifying 9/11 as "chickens coming home to roost"? -- net net, from a purely utilitarian perspective, more people have their own destiny in their hands than under the previous regime.
Unless one believes old Uncle Saddam wasn't so bad.
It's interesting how the left likes to make the illogical argument that, say, (like Sen. Barbara Boxer suggested to Sec. Rice) that anyone without a military-age adult "child" on the front lines shouldn't make war policy, yet they're perfectly willing to decide for others that living under a tyrant would be preferable when they themselves have not lived under a real tyrant.
Oh, one could be snarky and say Bush is a tyrant.
Many say that in fact.
But, in your guts you know that's nuts.
